Mannahatta: After getting bumped for another yet-to-open spot by the AvroKo group (Public, Stanton Social), Mannahatta relocated to the old Crime Scene space with intentions to mesh the best elements of both bars, plus add a few upscale touches. The end result, with its low lighting, jazz, and tapas, is attracting a crowd of entry-level scenesters who seem to think the Bowery is the new Meatpacking District. Then again, with its velvet rope, bottle service, and heavy traffic, Mannahatta’s got the meat market part secured—expect to witness wolfish trawling for young flesh. But with weekend DJs spinning beats like Reel 2 Reel (like to move it move it?), it’s no crime to loiter at Mannahatta. |
