Judge Roy Bean: Judge Roy Bean’s brown wood trim and large front window seem to be from another era among the modern Midtown buildings and act like a homing beacon for weary after-work suits. The glass front shows that the long, linear, dark wood-toned space is as welcoming as the friendly staff, and you’ll have a beer in your hand and a food order placed as soon as you can push through the crowd. The original Judge Bean had a penchant for hanging outlaws. Luckily those days are over and regular Beaners—the local office “rats”—and the few affable Midtown tourists who wander in from time to time are thus inclined to linger in the convivial pub atmosphere. Food is a couple steps above average pub grub, and with a weekly happy hour (5pm-8:30pm), eight beers on tap, and 17 bottle selections, this Judge always has a favorable jury. |
