China Club: Once you’ve waited in the line trailing the block, paid the $20 entrance fee, passed through the metal detector, and paid the coat check for EACH item you hand them, be ready to get your groove on. China Club once courted celebs but today mainly draws the “über-trendy” folks hailing from the ’burbs and boroughs. On the main floor, a centrally located bar divides the “China Blue” dance floor from the velvet-roped VIP lounge. A few glitterati still play this decadent icon of the ’80s (Train, most recently) and hold parties for their famous friends, but the multi-level hotspot’s luster seems to be waning with time. Nevertheless, live DJs, vocalists, and decent music means that if you want to get in, be sure to know someone on the inside…or try flirting with the bouncer. |
