Bar Milano
Bar Milano signifies a move up, at least geographically, for Jason Denton (Lupa, ‘inoteca, ‘ino) and brother Joe (‘inoteca), who have boldly crossed 14th Street to bring a taste of downtown Italian uptown. But don’t expect to find the unassuming ambience of the Dentons’ downtown haunts here. Neutral upholstery, white marble, and sleek furnishings make this place feel like an airport admiral’s club lounge. Perhaps this also explains why everything costs roughly double what it should. (A bowl of granola is $10.) Upscale Northern Italian cuisine is available from breakfast at 7 a.m. to a late-night menu until 3 a.m., giving you plenty of time to see if Bar Milano lives up to the hype. If high-priced small portions aren’t your thing, grab a seat at the bar—with mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim’s tantalizing cocktails served in hand-blown Polish stemware, at least you know you’ll drink well for $13.
